& NbspUma of the largest floating solar power plants in the world starts operations in Saitama
The Smart Energy announced the completion of one of the largest floating solar power plants in the world in the city ofKawajima, Saitama Prefecture. 
The plant, which began operations on the surface of an agricultural reservoir on October 26, 2015, has an output of about 7.5MW.
The reservoir area is about 130,000 square meters, and 27,456 solar panels monocrystalline silicon manufactured by the Chinese company Yingli Green Energy were installed floating support systems.
The plant is expected to generate 8,305,440 kWh of electricity, equivalent to the amount consumed by 2,300 households per year.
The total investment is about 3 billion yen.
