Kyocera Corp said on Thursday (3) that it would launch what it calls "the first smartphone in the world that can be washed with liquid soap."
The smartphone, called Worthy Rafre , will be sold by KDDI Corp phone operator starting next week for about ¥ 57,000($ 460). Bar soap should not be used to wash the device, according to a spokesman for Kyocera, but the foam liquid soap can be used to make a thorough cleaning.
Decent Rafre was developed to help people clean up their whole for smartphones, given their presence in different places, such as outdoors or while cooking, according to Kyocera. The company has no plans to market the device outside of Japan.
Smartphones are not as clean as may seem due to their loving bacteria heat and contact with hands, and the use near the mouth and nose. A survey conducted by the Wall Street Journal in 2012 found a high and abnormal number of bacteria that indicate faecal contamination in eight randomly selected appliances.
