In many ways, Japan is a nation of deep traditions. That said, the country is always in search of innovative and new flavors of ice cream, and this is what we have seen: milk, gold, meat, flower, fish and all this only in recent years.

This time, a new flavor sounds both unusual and intriguing. Senbonmatsu Farm, located in the province of Tochigi, started to offer what it calls "kiss-flavor ice cream".

Like many farms in rural Japan, Senbonmatsu also operates a kind of agricultural amusement park. On the premises, you will find a tent called Dulceria. If you visit the place on the afternoon of a weekend or holiday, they will be serving the Vaca Dulce brand "ice cream flavor".

But, what's the taste of the kiss? For Senbonmatsu the taste is caramel.

Each of the 3 varieties of Vaca Dulce come topped with caramel syrup, made with the same milk from Senbonmatsu Farm, as in the ice cream itself. In fact, the amount of caramel added seems to be the only difference between the 3 types.

Senbonmatsu describes the "Butterfly Kiss" (¥ 480) as gracefulness to savor. The "Bird Kiss" (¥ 520) as a kiss as light as the pecking of a small bird, while its top of the line, the "Vampire Kiss" (¥ 580), has a wealth that will cling to you.

Together with the unusual names, the Vaca Dulce brand ice cream is also sold based on a strange schedule, only on weekends and holidays, between 14h and 14h56.
